A few kilometres from the French border (65 km from Perpignan), the city is extremely well served by road and rail, making it the nerve centre of the Costa Brava.
From the Ramblas, you will be able to set off to explore this city with its rich architectural heritage, from Romanesque art to Art Nouveau. Marked by the birth and connections with Salvador Dali, the museum of Figueres is one of the most visited after the Prado in Madrid.
From the Ramblas, stroll through the streets to explore the old ramparts from the Middle Ages, the town hall square and the old Jewish district (Carrer Magre). The church of Sant Pere and the Chapel of Sant Sebastia will enable you to plunge into the Romanesque and Gothic past of the City. Gradually caught up by time, you will arrive at Art Nouveau buildings like the Cusi house, the Puig-soler house or Salleras.
The Dali theatre museum, designed by the artist, is an artistically impressive set of buildings that reflect the mind and thought of the Master.
The museum of Empordá offers a journey through the ages where you will find the various stages which made the Costa Brava what it is today, an exceptional human experience.
Many fairs will come throughout the year to occupy the rare moments of freedom which you will manage to preserve.
Obviously, Figueres can be a starting point for exploring the Costa Brava. As a rail and road junction, the city takes you from Rosas to Empuriabrava, from Port de la Selva to Olot.
