The capital of counts in Carolingian times, Peralada has preserved monuments and vestiges of its past importance, but also a way of still being alive today.
Made of narrow lanes, the city holds the attention by the strength of its monuments : the cloister of Sant Doménec, the convent of the Carmelites and obviously the castle of Peralada and its gardens.
Peralada is the Costa Brava in a few lanes : history, culture, leisure, sport and relaxation rub shoulders in harmony.
Leisure at Peralada is the splendid casino in the castle, as much as the golf course or the internationally famous festivals, whether classical music or jazz. All the infrastructures allowing visitors and inhabitants to relax are present at Peralada, integrated into the historical framework of the city.
As in all the towns of the Costa Brava, Peralada has invested in sport : three football fields, tennis courts, swimming pool, equestrian centre, golf course... all in respect for the rich environment serving as a setting for this jewel of the Costa Brava.
Long famous for its wine, Peralada has one of the finest cellars in Spain. These wines of quality will harmoniously accompany the Catalan specialities served in the many restaurants of the town, including the typical "platillos", meat stews and seafood.
