Like many of them, Portbou resisted thoughtless and destructive economic attraction, implementing property development in Spain in the framework of the law.

All year this small port provides a welcome of human dimensions. Even in the tourist season, the city and its beaches are not crowded. Marked by a difficult recent past, it was the site of the last battle of the Spanish civil war. The town drew from this a philosophy of life based on simple pleasures and respect for others.
