Situated at the northern end of the Costa Brava, in the Bay of Rosas, the town, with its back to the Pyrenees, breathes at the rhythm of the Mediterranean.
Geographically favoured by the proximity of protected natural spaces (Cape Creus and the Massif of Montgri), Rosas has drawn lessons from its rich past, enabling it to develop harmoniously between tourism and local life, respectful of the environment and people.

Built by the Greeks in 776 B.C., the commercial colony has never ceased being a centre of interest and a key site on the Costa Brava. Even today, you can walk through history via the vestiges of the Greek Rhodos or the Roman town. The entrance gate to Spain, Rosas was later fortified by Charles Quint.

Commercial and military, Rosas was also spiritual and cultural. As a port open to the world, mingling cultures and religions, in the surroundings can be found many monasteries and Churches (in particular in the town centre, the Church of Santa Maria).
With its rich past, Rosas nevertheless turned resolutely to tourism during the Fifties; a welcome that was carefully thought out, an exemplary model of real estate in Spain and respectful of tradition. In Rosas, fishing port and marina exist in harmony side by side.

Family beaches or more sporting beaches, dedicated to relaxation or activities, each day has its own beach.

The natural spaces

The Costa Brava is much more than a succession of beaches. It is a constant discovery of unknown universes such as the park of Aiguamolls de l'Empordá (vast protected marshes) or the Cape Creus, whose paths are between land and sky, between sea and mountains. Gastronomy calls upon the local products and mainly fish. One of the inevitable dishes of Rosas will obviously be Suquet de Peix, a selection of fish and potatoes. But in addition to the traditional dishes, you will find in Rosas the height of gastronomy in the restaurant 'El Bulli', where Ferran Adria proposes attractive and innovative dishes.
